Hey there, i was just posting actually to gain more knowledge on the whole application process. I have been doing my research on the program since yesterday and have decided that this is the job i would love to do in a gap year before i go to university. However thats all dependant on if i get onto the program or not. Anyway, i have a few questions that i just need clearing. They have already been asked before, i went through some threads however i still just need a bit of reassurance and such. I'm from the UK and I'm just confused to when to actually send in my application? And when is the 'closing' time for them? Also, I feel like my CV isn't good enough. I only have experience in a cleaning job:/ I know i've read in some threads that no experience is ok but then again in some experience is required? This is where i got confused. However I'm passionate about other cultures, would that help in my application? What would i need to put on my cover letter? etc... I'm sorry if people have answered these before but it would be great help for a newbie like me ^^ Just to clear things out. Everyone seems so friendly here~ Nice to meet you all.
Hi Donghae! Welcome to the boards...we always like to see new members! Hopefully I can answer most of your questions, but if not, them I'm sure others will chip in! Firstly, the application can be sent in any time now for the Cultural Representative program. If you're looking to do any other the college programs, you'd need to email Yummy Jobs to ask them when applications start. I presume you're looking to do the CRP so applications have opened. As for the closing date, I have no idea. You might want to email Yummy anyway and ask. I'm sure the closing date may be up soon, so get that application in as soon as possible! They accepting applications starting in Feb 09. You're correct, you don't need any experience to apply. Sometimes it helps for some of the college programs (like if you want to do entertainment and you have a theatre background) but its not specifically needed. Disney gives you all the training you need! Putting that you're passionate about cultures is certainly a bonus, but then again be passionate about anything is a bonus. In your cover letter you just need to put across your passion for Disney, any skills you feel you're competent at, and things like what you'd hope to gain from the experience, and when you're looking to go out. It's more like a personal statement really. I hope this helps and don't hesitate to ask more questions :S Louisa x
As a 41 yr old guy whos applied and who has an entertainments background as a Redcoat/bluecoat as well as various Tv what would the best role for me to be at Disney,id love to be a character attendant(what is this?) with my talent i need to put it to good use, ive been told the americans will love me! Any advice! Dazzling Daz x
Daz, unfortunately the only programme available to you is the CRP, the cultural representative programme. In that you can be in Food and Beverage or Merchandise. Food and Beverage you could end up working in The Rose and Crown pub, maybe behind the bar or as a server. Then maybe the Harry Ramsdens fish and chip shop behind the counter. In Merchandise you'll be working in the souvenir shop, selling policemens helmets or Beatles memoribilia. You only really get to be in the other roles if you go out on a college programme.
Donghae, just a couple of bits of contact stuff for you. The website you need is www.yummyjobs.com and a good contact there is Michele. She's really helpful. If you're interested in a cruise line job, check out www.dcljobs.com. Daz, with an entertainment background, you'll actually need to audition. I would dearly love to go for entertainment but while I can sing, I appear to be rhythum retarded! I cannot dance to save my life. I can barely clap in time! Anyway, the page you need is: http://corporate.disney.go.com/auditions/ Good luck to both of you! Let us know how you get on!
Thanks DisneyGibbs and foxxie52 for your help Could i just ask one more question? ^^ I emailed Yummy Jobs about wether i should apply yet or not because i only turn 18 in early October. However they told me i should apply when i turn 18. I thought interested applicants had to apply in July : ( And i got a little confused, could someone help me out on this as well please?
I am not from the UK but I thought I would answer about the CV. Putting that your passionate about other cultures and learning about them would be great. Another great thing to use is the world Magical. And maybe that you would enjoy makeing guests times a Magical experience or something. I found they liked that word when I went to the interviews.
I think this is because you have to be 18 by the interviews, and they're probably before october I guess...
It doesn't really matter how old you are when you apply for the job. As long as you are 18 when you have your interview and more importantly when you head over there then it is fine.
TinkTingeling: I was thinking that, which kind of ruins my plans of trying to apply for next Septemberish :/ I think hereyourdreamscometrue: This is the email they sent me: We do need to have you wait until your 18, as to complete the application/visa process for the US applicants legally have to be 18. However, we look forward to receiving your CV in October! I'm worried though if i did apply and the interviews were before i was 18 then, idk. Just kind of ruins when i would plan to go because i was planning on applying for next Summer/Autumn time.
I checked out the site but the Castings are in Florida, so id have to get a job with Yummy first! Id love to work in the shop or pub, id so love it and who knows what may come along! Disney makes dreams come true!
That's ok then! They hold CRP interviews for September - December start dates in February/March of each year...so that time you'd be 18! The applications being sent in this month are for start dates from February - September 2009.
You could anyway and see what they say. But if you want to go from September 2009 then the applications don't happen until around December. Though it would be best to email Yummy again and ask them exactly when the next applications start.
Ive been told the two positions on offer are within Food and Beverage and Merchandise, so where would thease be at Epcot? Is The Rose And Crown and The Shop the only place you can work? I thought there was a Fish Shop? How many UK staff are there? Thanks!
Hey Daz, For us UK people, it is only F&B or Merch. For F&B you can either work in the Rose and Crown pub or the fish and chip shop. For Merch there are about 4 or 5 different shops that sell things like football stuff, tea, English sweets, toys etc. There's also a Historical Research Centre where people can research their family tree - we could possibly end up there too. They need the most people for F&B, despite there being more shops. Somewhere I've heard that there around 100 of us out there at one time. Anyone want to help out with that? Hope that helps Daz!
