Well depending completely on where you're from, you could try something like www.expedia.com to get a rough idea.
Thing is Jorden, Disney book our flights for us (I think Canadians still have to make their own way there right?), so any prices we get could be unrealistic to what Disney may pay... They may make us Pay more or it could be less... I really don't know... The literature we got at the F2F says $500-$2000 but thats a big difference... I think this is just gonna be a wait and see heh Colin
Yeah true enough I keep forgetting that... Either way that should give you a rough (although quite likely lower) guesstimate as to how much your flight could cost. Not perfect by any means but should narrow down the 500-2000 guess. And for some reason I didn't notice her sig said UK either, so I really wasn't sure where she was from.
thanks for your help colin!!! congratulations on your position! looking forward to meeting you! Charis x
Hiya heather, Did Disney pay the flight for ya or just book it? that might be a stupid question!!! How you enjoying it out there? x
It's not a stupid question. Who books flights seems very irregular. ICPs seem to book there own, whereas IPs have theres booked by Disney - who then, if I've got it right, charge you for the fight by payroll deduction, only to give you half back at the end of the contract as relocation money!!
Also depends what day you're flying... as a general rule, weekends will be more expensive, weekdays cheaper...
Thanks for all the info, much appreciated!! I'm flying out on a tuesday but not till august so might be quite expensive that time of year!
Ah it may be an expensive time of year (not sure) but I'm pretty sure you're on one of the cheapest days of the week.
It would be nice if we can book our own flights. I'll do almost anything to keep my fares down. I once spent the night in an airport with all my luggage next to me. Plus you can get good rates with an international student card.
Mara, as Canadians we DO get to book our own flights. So you can do whavetver it takes for a cheaper rate... Just remember though upon completion Disney refunds you the cost of your flight when you went down... so I'd reccomend getting a more expensive flight on the way down, and then you'll get a little better refund at the end (and then get your cheaper flight and pocket some extra money). At least I'm pretty sure this is how it works... I saw a UK person saying you only get half refunded, but as far as I know for us Canucks we get a full refund.
Ok, I was pretty sure they said it was a full refund ... but you never know. I may have had a chunk of pixie dust stuck in my ear.
Yeah thats what I was thinking as well, so you can do whatever you gotta do, but yes we book our own flights down south.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and my logic may be flawed, as I have noticed within the last few days... which isn't a good thing since I just wrote a final :S... but wouldn't it not matter how much your ticket cost on the way down? ie: Scenario 1: if you pay $700 for a flight on the way down, you're out $700, but then Disney will give you $700 so you're even. On the way home, you book for $300. So In all, you end up paying $300 round trip. Scenario 2: you pay $100 for a flight on the way down, you're out $100 but Disney pays you back so you're even. On the way home, you book for $300. So you end up paying the same as scenario 1 it makes sense in my head anyway... but I could be wrong, maybe that's why I failed finance ???
You're right the values work out the same, but you really can't beat having $400 in your pocket from scinario one, vs having to pay 200 out of your pocket for scinario two.
Hey, im flying out to disney on 30th may with american airlines, does anyone know if u can take a laptop and a hand bag on the plane as hand luggage? or is it just 1? cheers! xx
