So I've been doing lots of reading on here, but haven't heard anything about Mickey's Retreat...can someone fill me in on the details? I know there is a beach, but you cannot swim in the lake? And how far away is it from the housing complexes?

it's right next to the commons and chatham square, but closer to get to from chatham, as the entrance is right next to chatham's entrance, but pretty far from the commons'

you cannot swim in the lake, no...
but there are pools there, and some other sports stuff...

So canoeing sounds like fun...but what if it tipped over and fell in. What would be worse, the possibility of creepy wildlife or the "all sorts of crap" ???
What else can you do there?

you can stear clear of it, and instead do all the other amazing stuff to be done in the area.
I never set foot on that retreat, and I did just fine...

So is it not that great?
    Does anything happen on it?
Do they host parties or something at mickeys retreat?

I don't think they had any parties there, but they've had like ju jitsu classes and so on. They host pool parties at the various complexes though, with free food, fun competitions and so on. They also have movienights with free candy ;D And grocery bingo, and trips to the beach....

    Sounds like fun!
Count me in for Bingo! I take my Gramma once a month HA HA HA HA
The whole lake thing doesn't sound great so I guess we'll be steering clear of that, but I was expecting Mickey's Retreat to be a bit different...But I'm sure it will still rock all of our socks off!

so how's the water at the beaches?? I know it's swimmable (I hope lol) but is it that really nice clear blue water that I've always wanted to swim in...or just so so? I've heard the water is pretty warm...is that true?
Can you kind of organize group events and stuff like that at Mickey's Retreat or do you have to get permission 1st?

depends what coast you are on. The Atlantic is freezing but the gulf can be nice and warm at certain times of the year. Clearwater and St Petes have white sand and clear water.
