Hiya! a newbie here with a few questions! lol

My name is Éilish, i'm 17 (18 in july) and i'm from the UK. I'm not planning to apply for the crp anytime soon because I need to get some money behind me, gain some experience (which i've heard Disney look for) and finish college.
I'll be a qualified childcare worker when I finish college, I know you don't really need qualifications to be in the crp but I was wondering if being qualified to work with children would be a bit of an advantage for me :)
Because i'm going to apply after i've turned 18, when would be the best time to apply?.
I know there's more questions but I can't think of them at the moment lol.
    Thanks a lot ;D

Hi there, welcome to the boards!

In terms of your age and the fact you want to leave it a while before applying, if you email yummy jobs they'll let you know when is best for you to apply. :)

You're right that don't need any certain experience for the crp...although small things like shop experience or experience working with food can often help. You sound like you've got a really good CV. Doing a child care course shows that you're dependable, responsible and a real people person. The merchendise role in the CRP sometimes means you get to work with children doing craft activites...so Disney should be really impressed with this, and you can write than into your cover letter.

Good luck in your application :)

For the best time to apply. Use the Yummy Website. They have an new one set up that is really great on knowing when to apply. And even applying though the website by the looks of it. :)

Here is the one to watch the CRP and when to apply. When you will be getting ready to apply keep an eye on it for when they are accepting them. The next ones for the UK are mid. January.

I went in with almost no experience. But I was hired though a different company. So it is possible. It is much easer the more experience you have by the looks of it. Think about what position you want and get experience that fits that.

There is no one BEST time to apply. It is sort of a "Catch it now while they are accepting" and go from there. And of course knowing when you want to go and doing it the interview before that time. (Like if your thinking of leaving in Summer 2009. You need to apply in January. Also so you know, you CAN be 17 at the interviews. You just cant leave till your 18. So when you put down the earliest start date it has to be after your birthday in July and just let them know. )

Anyway wish you the best of luck. Hope to maybe see you down there. :)

    Hi there,

Good luck, im sure your childcare experience will be a wicked advantage for you. Just a side note though, if you're going to save money then make sure you do F & B. You don't have a hope in hell of saving any pennies if you're merch.. I definately came back deeper in debt!

    good luck!

I think they look for the right personality more than experience but experience couldn't hurt.
Just show enthusiasm and how much working at WDW would mean to you etc. :)
