Hi there, just wondering do you have to chose between F&b and merch? what are the pros and cons of each??? when i was talking to ppl on the program last year in epcot they were saying to do F&b as it way more money but to be honest.... I'm not in it for the money and quite fancy merch in the uk plus I'm not the best waitress in the world as i haven't done it in years!!!! thanks for you help! i know i'm getting way ahead of myself as i mite not get an interview but thought id ask anyway xxxz
When you go to your interview they will ask you to rank your role choices. It doesn't guarantee you a role, but it's just so that they know you're preference. In my interview they also asked why I'd chosen the role I did. As for F&B vs. Merch, from what I know: At our interview they told us Merchandise pays $7.25/hour and F&B pays $7.75/hour if you're in an un-tipped position and something like $3.25/hour if you're in a tipped position. So you make a little bit more regardless of what position you're working that day. The thing is, if you're working in a restaurant and making tips, you can wind up with a lot more money than any other job. That's the advantage to F&B. To get to a tipped position you need to work your way up, so you'll probably be starting with positions such as greeter or host(ess). Some people never do end up serving or working in a tipped position. Also, when choosing you need to consider the work environment, and the interaction you'll have with guests. You get a lot of interaction in both roles, but in merchandise I'd imagine if you're restocking or if you aren't helping someone at the cash you'd be able to have more casual conversations, that can't really happen if you're serving or working as a hostess (unless it's not very busy). On the other hand in F&B you're guaranteed interaction with TONS of guests who will be coming through the restaurant. So really, it's just up to you, what you'd prefer, and what you think would make you happy. If you can't decide you can always mention during you're interview that you've chosen a preference, but would be equally happy doing either role. Best of luck in the interview process!
You don't need experience to be a server as you'll get great training for it Besides the money is good to have if you want to do some traveling while you're there I never thought I would fit to be a server, but I actually loved it
Oh, I should mention that I'm going to be working in F&B but have ABSOLUTELY no experience. I'm not that coordinated either, but I'll work at it. I'm just excited because it means I'll get to work with a lot of other Cast Members. At least at the Canada Pavillion the restaurant is MUCH bigger than the shops.
oh my gosh you go so soon.... i'm so excited for you! thanks for you help you have all been great..... i am worried have waited on table since i was in my teens and i'm not very coordinated at all but will give anything a go ..... your so lucky! i'm excited about putting my Cv in let alone if i did get a place think my head would explode xx
Maybe (I don't know when I'd start work, or when you're going to epcot)! But if I am working I'll be the person who is SUPER confused and looks like it's her first day on the job... but is smiling anyway
