Well guys its 2009 and time
is once again going so fast, for all of you
who have been lucky to be accepted on the Cultural
Representative Program this year how much do you
think you should take with you,as back up money!
I know we dont get paid loads but is anyone
worried if they will be able to survive whilst
out in Orlando,i wanna have fun, enjoy the experience
and hopefully be able to come home 12mths later with fantasic
memories and a bit of cash!
Has anyone got any idea where we get insurance to cover ourselves
for the first 4 mths out in Florida?

    So many questions?

From what I've seen from forum-stalking some of the guys from our interviews Daz, backpackers insurance is the best type to get as it will cover you for the 12 months and even 13 months if you want to travel after Disney.
There are pros and cons to having Disney cover you after the first 4 months, so I've heard; the money comes out of your wages and the cover may not be as inclusive as one you could take out now.

The companies that sound best (correct me if I'm wrong guys) are insure and go / 24 7 travel insurance

I'm not sure about the UK, but I'm from Canada and I went for 4 months on the ICP in 2006. I bought my insurance at home before I left. It was something like $150 for the 4 months. It would probably be best to get the coverage from home.

As for having enough to survive/have fun, I didn't have any problem while I was there. In fact I had enough to eat at "Take 5" (which is the cafeteria at the Hollywood Studios) pretty much every day instead of bringing food from home. Also, depending on whether you're doing merch, operations or F&B, as I have heard, some Castmembers serving in the restaurants were taking away $200-$300 a shift with tips.

$200-$300 would suit me down to the ground :D that's loooads. do you reckon people tip attractive people more? if they do, i'm buggered!!! :D

thanks for the info vicki, i was considering e-mailing michele to check if the disney one comes out of your wages, so i'm thinking of going with 24/7 now

I'm with American Express at the mo....but I might change to Insure and Go because they cover my medical condition and cover all the visa stuff! You would not believe how many companies I've called lol. I chose the Backpackers Gold, because there is no excess to pay.

When i went backpacking in Oz I used Amex life insurance which covered me for scuba diving to skydiving so if i get this placement i'll gor for the same i imagine.

Also they don't do it anymore but another company might which is an international travel debit card which was a lifesaver when i ran out of cash and it was easy for my parents to top me up (after much begging) much better than travellers cheques as you didn't have to find somewhere to cash them.
