some not-so important questions (probably...)

there's a couple things i keep wondering about for when i get to disney!! if anyone who's been could tell me that would be ace, if not, im sure i will soon find out!!!

in the summer because everyone works so often, is it difficult to find friends who's days off clash with your own? so do people just tend to go off around the parks on their own on their days off?

and also, do people tend to go to work already in their uniform, or get changed when they get there??


both are really silly questions and dont really matter i guess but it would be nice to know

 

well from my experience of the program, most peeps had the same days off, but unfortunately I did not. I spent a lot of time bumming around by myself but that was just caus all my friends were working different parks and my hours were horrific, however there is always someone to go with. I used to get talking to peeps on the bus and then hang with them, you wouldn't believe how many peeps go by themselves so you can always find peeps.

As to the whole wear you uniform to work, the majority of people do caus if something happens to the buses you are unlikely to have time to change and clock in etc in time.

Yeah I found most of my friends didn't have the same days off as me so I was bumming around a lot on my own (and most of the time in those cases I didn't really do any rides, but I looked at the details and shops and things like that, that I hadn't visited before).

I also found that when going alone usually a friend called me to see what I was doing and we met up within the hour.

As for wearing your costume to work, sometimes I did sometimes I didn't. When I worked in Out Door Foods I had 3 differet costumes depending on my location and/or role for the day so I found it easier to change at Epcot but I also made sure I got there in plenty of time to head to base find out where I was working and then change before clocking in. When I got transfered to Mission Space I almost always wore my costume to work unless I was playing in the park before, or returning costumes to be washed and signing new ones out.

oo and another question...

i know we have to wear plain black shoes for traditions and stuff, but when we get our uniforms do they come with shoes? or do we have to provide our own? cos thinking about it you wouldnt know until you get the costume what sort of shoes you would need to buy!

 

The costumes don't come with shoes.
If you received your package already, everything is explained in it.
Most ppl buy some shoes over there and they have to be plain black as well. I wore black trainers all the time. Unfortunately it will look stupid with my guest relations outfit :-\

 

Yeah I bought (both) my shoes at Wal Mart. For ODF I needed plain white shoes and white socks... when I got into Mission Space guess what? Plain back shoes with black socks...

I dunno about my socks this time but I need hiking boots lol.

 

You'll need black socks and they need to be high enough that they show above your boots

 

how long do you get between finding out your costume and needing shoes? Enough time to go to walmart and get them, also how much will they set me back?

Also how many costumes do we get? and how does it work for washing them etc?

 

WHAT?? That's ridiculous! I don't want my socks coming outa my shoes...

 

Haha, I'm sure there have got to be worse looking costumes than having socks about shoes, don't worry

 

My suit that I will be wearing is brown, so can I wear brown shoes, or do they definately have to be black?

 

It says in the disney look book, because you know i love quoting from this book..

Socks must match the colour of the appropriate shoes you are required to wear.

Also, im quite happy that i have to wear white shoes for Outdoor Foods..I love wearing white plimsals, there really comfy..

Also yeah you do usually have time to go and get some shoes after finding out about your uniform..I got mine from the premuim outlet malls, they were really cheap actually..

As for the uniform thing, i think you can check 3 out on your account before your account gets froze..Its really bad that i don't no because i used to work in costuming! Guess i should be left off for that tho, because i only worked once in main issue..

 

i think you are allowed to check out 5 of each of the costumes you need at anyone time, but only one of each accessory, like a belt or a hat.

And to wash them you are meant to take them back to costuming to be washed, but alot of people found the sizes to be really crap, so once they found a costume that fit them well they held on to it and washed it at the apartments.

 

Yeah I've heard that Disney sizing is not good for your happiness with body image!!!! Damn company...

 

Yeah, im size small at home and i used to have to get meduim..Because small was to small, but meduim was to big..

So i couldn't win really..oh well..

I wonder what im guna have to do when im vacation planner..I've never seen there uniforms...

 

Yeah (depending on your program) it's 3 or 5 costumes. Usually it's 5 though (part timers get only 3).

ANd good about black socks, I like black lol.

Is there a washing maschine at the commons and is this free of charge ?

There are machines but you have to buy a laundry a card to use them. I think it was a dollar a time? And you need to provide your own washing powder. If you get a good, nice fitting, new looking costume..hold onto it!

I wouldn't call any costume at disney delicious..i'd just say its maybe better than others!

I think costumes go as low as XS..
