Starting June 4th - possibility of arriving early??

Hey guys!!

Still coming down off the high of discovering I've got a place on the ICP

Anyway, I was talking with my Mum about booking flights today. My arrival date is June 4th but she suggested I went out a few days early and either stayed in a cheap hotel or tried and get into my accommodation early - to combat both jetlag and nerves!!

I said it sounded like a real good idea in theory but I'd heard that Yummy tried to get people on board the same flights to get in touch so they could keep each other company and get to know each other, so maybe it might be better to fly out on the actual day jetlag or not. I also said I didnt reckon I'd be able to get into accommodation early either but I thought I'd ask on here and see if anyone knows

I was just wondering if anyone has done it (heading out to Florida early) in the past? Pros and cons? OR, are any June 4th-ers thinking about doing the same thing who would be interested in sharing a cheap hotel room for a few days!

I knew someone last year who did fly out early, and spent a couple of days in NY seeing friends before flying down to Orlando. Obviously you'd need to speak to Yummy if they're booking your flights (I can never keep up with how flights work - I booked my own last year); the other important thing to check is that your visa will be valid early enough, otherwise you'll have big problems!

 

hey im goin 4th june! i think itll be better to fly that date as ul meet ppl and also itl work out cheaper, we will all have crappy jetlag i guess but itll be ok

Congrats on getting in and welcome to the 4th of June arrival group

I'm heading out on the day because

1 - I'll meet people that i'll be working/living with and we'll have many many hours on planes and in airport terminals to get to know one another.

2 - As Chezza said it will be cheaper, the money could be used on other things.

3 - I hopefully wont get lost anywhere cause there will other people to keep me right

4 - I have already booked my flights (since i've known for a while) and although its only about £50 to change i'd rather not go through that hassle and get another flight time table/schedule thing sent out to me.

The decision is enterely up to you though, i never even thought about doing that when i booked my flights - travelling afterwards i considered but sadly my uni starts up like a week after i get back so thats that idea done with anywho slightly off topic.

Maybe you should speak to Yummy when you have to call them back to get details and things ???

Aww bless you I wouldnt ask anyone to change their flight I think you're right about going out on June 4th, I'd rather have time to either travel or be the ultimate Orlando tourist at the end (which my parents seem happy to pay for!!! wow!!) but I'm keeping my options open. Think my mum is really keen to book the flight though as the prices are rocketing...

 

Lucky you! I so wish i could do some traveling at the end - damn uni!

Flights are expensive but when you think about it it isnt that bad since your out there for about three months, still alot to pay in one go though kine where about £500 but i know people who have got it for less.

Anyway back to what i should be doing - evil essays

I am flying out on 4th June from Gatwick with Virgin direct I think it departs at 11.15am, so if anyone else is on that too let me know.

I am sooooooo excited about going, should really be revising for uni exams but this is so much more interesting. This site tells you so much more than the packs they send you!!!!

<hey i m in the ip and no one leaves from my airport, so i was thinking if its a good idea to take a week before as afmily vacations, do that gets some problem for the day i must arrive, can i get directly to the commons instead to be picked up at airport??

yeah just a little bit nervous time is going so quickly!!!!!! will be there in no time.
glad there will be other people on the flight as 8hrs by yourself before u get there also seemed a little daunting. I am sure the nerves will go once we get there though, as there will be so much to do.

what is your official job title? i am going to be an opperations hostess.... i think thats what its called! sooooo excited

Im working on Merchandise, my first choice was operations but i got my second! But im just happy that i got in and merchandise will be lots of fun!

Im glad ur on the same flight it will be less nerve wracking! where are u from? im guessing somewhere near Gatwick. Im from Brighton but go 2 Leeds uni!
