Hi im 16 from canada. before you laugh at my age you have to know that I am a HUGE disney freak. when i turn 18, and not a second after, i am planning on applying for the one year program. What do they look for and what can I do now to make my chances higher right now i am volenterring weekly with 5 year olds (through girl guides) in french immersion (by the time im 18 i will be 100% biligual) but thats it what else can i do? Thanks much love and good luck -mousefreak-kim-
Hi Kim, I wish you the best of luck and a Happy Birthday when that day approaches. As for what they look for...I have no idea!! I thought forsure that it would be volunteering but I have almost no volunteer experience and I was hired. I do believe they look for dedication, a positive attitude and for the most part any other positive attributes that you can show forth during your interviews. Well mannered, personable, cheerful and able to handle stressfull situations. Then again, I could just be pouring out alot of non-sense here seeing as how I, myself, am not quite sure why they hired me. Good Luck -Jei
Yeah and for example I've visited all the parks (except Hong Kong) and have spent 5.5 years working in retail and I didn't even get the position yet (got the waitlist instead). It's defonatly not your qualifications as much as it is who you are.
I think they look for attitude - asking the casting people and perhaps asking if you can attend the presentation a year before you are old enough to apply will show enough enthusaism to get you in...
Thanks, how do you think i could get to these presentations? YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH OF A DREAM OF MINE THIS IS like ive been to dl over 20 times and dw over 10 and every time ive asked how i can get a job there, i love the friendly people and the enviorment... on my ipod my top 25 is a mixture between rent and the songs from the 50th birthday cd... I WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET IN. ive already read this entire site!
ALSO... if your not sick of me yet do you have any blogs of people who are working down there right now.. not even kidding my fav part of the day is ready about people down there...
http://wdwjohn.blogspot.com/ This guy just got there last Monday, and has links to two other blogs of people who got there last Monday (Candice, and Tessa) although Tessa has yet to update hers from Floirda.
Well, I'm quite sure a devoted love of Disney will increase your chances. I told Jeff that I'm totally obsessed with Disney and perhaps that was my door in! Going to the presentation a year early sounds like a good idea. I'd love to go to more presentations still. Lol.
That's crazy dude! Tessa's my best friend, I've known her for 12yrs and soon I'll be down there with here! Did you work with her at Colossus?
i did indeed.. although we never "worked" together... we talked a few times... pretty sure every time i saw her i told her i was envious keep in touch with me, if you want, while your down there, i really want to kknow wht its like
Sure Kim, if you have MSN add me I'm Snow.white87@gmail.com I'd love to give you the low-down and how it is down there.
*points* Iiiiiiiiiiiiit's a small world after all! It's a small world after all! It's a small world after all! It's a small small world" Another great blogsite is at www.freewebs.com/disneygibbs... She has her experience split into home and work life *nods* KC
An example of leadership could be involvement in a university society, or perhaps in a local branch of a voluntary organisation. One point, I would think, of wanting a demonstration of leadership skills, is that it shows the ability to use initiative, which is very important for cast members!
i can't remember what iwas going to say......speak amongst yourselves....... oh yes...i'm a tottal disney freak too!!! i think one of the good things i talked about during my interview was how much the cast members increased my holiday experience and specific times they did and that i wanted to do that for others...i think it showed how iwould understand the high level that is expected..or something...i just thought they were cool remeniscinces at the time... but i think they helped.
Definatly Ana, good answers I know I said the exact same things!! I also mentioned about how I get to be in the role to "make the magic" (I know, I lame, deal with it) that has always graced my trips everytime I've gone to a park. Kim, I have little to nill volunteer experience so I really think hiring is based on having the Disney attitude.
