I've got a few of questions that I was wondering about...

Hairdressers? My hair's highlighted- it looks natural so I'm sure would be fine for the Disney Look but will need keeping up with to avoid getting roots, so is there a cheap but decent hairdressers nearby?

I was also wondering how far in advance we'd get our rotas. I have friends and family that will probably want to visit so I'd like to be able to plan ahead with them. I know you can't get holidays for ages, so I'd have to request back to backs, but how many of these can you have and how far in advance do they need to be requested?

I'm working in F&B so I know I'll need special shoes- am I best just waiting till I can get to Walmart for those? And how much should I budget for them?

Finally, should I take a duvet or is it just as easy to buy a comforter etc from Walmart when I'm there?

    Thaaanks! :)

First off, hairdressers, I have no idea really, I got a horrendous cut before I came and have spent the entire year growing it out lol. I know a lot of people go to a woman in Mall of Millenia, she's really good, but by no means cheap (think $150 for a cut & colour). I'm pretty sure people have had it done at Florida Mall too, but as I say, no idea how much it was.

Second, rotas. All scheduling stuff is done through the hub, which is basically a computer thing for work (you log on and it tells you all sorts about the parks and when they're open and what blockout dates are and you can make reservations, check your pay, put holidays through and everything). Schedules go from Sunday-Saturday and you'll get them a week ahead, so say it was Sunday today, it would show you this week, and the next week. If you're in F&B, you'll eventually get into a pattern of regular shifts, so you'll know pretty much when you're working anyway. You can only request one back to back every 3 months (but as I say, it's all done on the hub, so you can always put them through and see if they get approved anyway lol), but you can fiddle the days. You also get 3 floating holidays a year on the 1st March, 1st June (or July?) and the 1st Sept...so say your fams came in April, you'd only have one day holiday to use, but if they came in August, you'd have 2. You can also request ADO's, an Authorised Day Off, it'll go on your record card, but you don't get any points for it. When my parent's came I managed to get a week off by getting a floating holiday, back to back, floating holiday and ADO. Plus you can get people to pick up shifts. Also there's no minimum on when it can be requested, but if you leave it till less than 3 weeks before (or maybe 2), it says the schedules already done etc etc. Basically you just put it in the computer whenever and it'll get back to you and say whether it's been approved or denied (usually denied because scheduling are completely gay!)

Thirdly, shoes. I'd wait till you get here. They're sooooooo picky about them that you don't want to buy some in the UK only to be told they're not right (as my friend did). (Also, I heard a rumour that Disney are going to be providing shoes at some point, so if you're not going out for a while, might be worth while to wait.) Expect them to cost around $50-60 though.

Lastly, duvet. Buy one here. They're about $30 from Walmart and a duvet'll take up loads of room in your case. Plus big 13 toggs from home are way too thick lol.

Hope that helped. Any more questions, I'll try to answer lol xx

George is culprit now. I don't think I've ever seen him grant a request! It's always denials from him.

Unfortunately not. Your visa only allows you to work in the UK pavilion and does not include entertainment.

I have a question for current/alumni CRP people. When I participated on the ICP in 2008, one of the things I loved most was making close friends with people from other countries, mainly from the US and Mexico - but this had a lot to do with who I was working with in Dinoland etc. Working on the CRP you are obviously only ever working with people from your country and it appears these are the people you are generally living with too. Do you end up becoming a little sectioned off as you're not really working or living with people outside of your own nationality?

You do hang out a lot with your pavilion, I won't lie. It's because you work with them, you experience everything with them and they become your family over one whole year. But it's entirely up to you and what you make of it. If you want to, then you will have friends form lots of nations or a nation in particular. Although happy monday is not everyones thing, it's a great way to meet people from all over.
Hope that helped at little =)

OK awesome! I'd still love it all regardless but just wondered. Is this 'Happy Mondays' the Lads and Lasses thing I've seen mentioned before?
