thanks Briar....appartments doesn't look bad... Do u have free wireless connection or u have to pay 4 it???
you get free internet but it's not wireless, you need an ethernet cable to connect to the router. But you can buy a cheap wireless router in Walmart for $35.
You have to buy all your own bedding, though chances are that you'll have enough weight allowance on your way out to take these with you - saves you a bit of money, given you (presumably) have these things at home anyway. Similarly buy or take your own towels. On the TV front you may luck out and an existing flatmate may have a TV, or a previous one may have left one. Otherwise you could buy one - perhaps split the cost amongst those in the appartement?
i suppose its how you make it! with youre own bits and pieces take loada of pics from home im sure that will help you with home sick days!
Just 2 of us The one beds are sooo much better when you live with one of your friends! I used to live with my friend and 2 other girls but I much prefer it just being 2 of us.
no you either have to bring your own or buy one at Wallmart. Louisa bought a good one for like $16 and supposidly it's quite good.
Heres a question, how much is a TV from Walmart i cant go without TV? Can you bring it back to the UK with you?
this may b a silly question but are the apartments mixed gender or is it split??? girls with girls and boys with boys xxx ;D
i've been told that it is split...alest for the room.... idon'tknow if a whole floor is for girl or boy....
the apartment buildings house male apartments and girl apartments. so in a apartment you can only be guys or girls. but your girl apartment may be next to a guy apartment. if that makes sense ;D
I've been watching a few videos of The commons Apartment tours and it's got me excited. I just hope i don't move in with guys who are already close and not keen on someone moving in. I hope my room mates move in the same time as me. We can then from the start chip in money for a decent TV, get ground rules set and work out a chore rotor. Maybe Stu can let us know what happened when he moved in? stuff like bedding i plan to set some cheap sets which i can throw away or leave when i come home otherwise it's all going to take up space in the suitcase
Why yes he can! We have two tv's, one for watching tv & one for PS3 which my Italian housemate Stefano has. We've had some quality pro evo games so far! It's all pot luck as to whether your housemates already have a tv. The broadband is awful. We've not wasted money on a wireless router as I do all my internet stuff in the living room anyway so just use an ethernet cable. Some people have had no problems with their internet but mine is toss. The bandwidth must be tiny or something because I can't do video calls (ever!) and youtube takes forever to load a video. Anything other than emailing & browsing doesn't work. Apparently you can pay for extra bandwidth but I've not had chance to go ask how much it is. As for bedding, just buy it when you get here. It's cheap as chips at Walmart, you can get everything you need for about 30-40 bucks. I spent extra on WWE bedding but that's just because I'm awesome!
Hows food shopping? Are you all chipping in together or buying your own food. How much are you thinking a week? Glad your settled in fine and i saw you've started your glamorous job at the chip shop. Sounds like you had loads of time to settle in. How was the training and what happened?
That paying for extra bandwidth thing just came in when I was there..We had the majority of the year on an amazing internet connection, then they installed an awful one and said we had to pay for an upgrade..Dont think its too expensive though..Think its only about $10 a month per apartment, if I remember rightly.. As for the TV..When I was there, there was always people selling tv's dirt cheap..The old style one's..Its abit of a shame tho, coz walmart used to sell the old style one's when I was there..So you could get a huge one for dirt cheap..I noticed tho, that they only really do the HD one's now..Which are alot more expensive.. We used to have loads of awesome games on pro evo..I got a PS2 for christmas..They only cost about $120 tho, with a controller, if your not flushed enough to afford a ps3
We all do our own shopping, 4 different nations trying to share food just wouldn't work! My shelf of the fridge consists of beer, water, OJ & milk! Most of my meals are microwave things & crap like that! My cupboard is pretty much just brownies, cereal & more goodies of that nature!
