Ah Ona you're just so full of knowledge! ;D
Now that you mention it Jason did tell me about that memorandum thing except he didnt explain it nearly aswell as that and it kinda had me worried that I wouldnt be able to do the program coz of it!

Nick such a pity you didnt get it their reasoning sucks!

Andy you thinking of doing this program?

I'm considering it, yep! It just doesn't really fit in with my long-term careers plans: the logical and creative sides of my brain are in conflict, suffice to say :p If I was going to go for a year, it would be on this program rather as a cultural rep.

I have a while to decide yet; won't be graduating for another 14 months.

    Hi guys.

Sorry I have not been on lately but my net has been down for the last few days. Ive been trying to get by on dial up but after years of fast internet it is proving very difficult.

Thanks so much for the congrats from everyone. Im leaving June 18th for Merch and Operations the same as Ona.

Nick I am soooo gutted for you. I cant believe they would let your bad experience in DCL get in your way of this program. It really doesn’t seem fair.

And guys Ill defo jump on a Disney Dorks bandwagon. See you all in Sunny Florida soon

So you'd be applying for a start date in summer 2007?
That's when Ive applied for! You should apply, then we can form our own little club for us '07' academic applicants ;D

I might, I certainly don't need the encouragement! Hehe! As I say, it's just a case of weighing up career issues. Another possibility is heading over to the US to do a masters degree and doing some seasonal work at WDW - but that depends on getting a scholarship to fund the placement, as I suprisingly don't have $40,000 to spend in course fees!

We'll see...but it would be summer 2007 if I do it, yes!

You say you've already applied...what have you heard back so far?

Yep already applied back at the start of March :D. I actually wanted to do the ICP summer after I graduated coz us Irish cant do the IP so I went along to a presentation Jason was giving on it here coz I had a couple of questions to ask him and then he told me that Graduates cant do the summer ICP :( but that was Ok coz then he told me about this new program and said that he thought Id be much more suited for it anyways! So I hung around after the presentation and he gave me a mini face to face interview instead of having phone interview and then he told me at the end that I was going to be invited to the face to face and got an email from him there a few weeks ago saying that they would hopefully be back in Dublin in November and that he'd email closer to the time with more details! ;D
Out of interest what are you studying in |Uni and what are your career plans if you dont mind me asking?

Congrats Jenny! ;D Are you QSF&B for 12 months or are you doing 6 months? See you out there. :)

Nick I am still in shock. And feeling totally gutted for you. I know how much you wanted it. :'( If you do come out on holiday, def. let us know. I'm sure some disney discounts can be arranged. ;)

Nina, Andy or anyone thinking of doing the program as a grad, just a wee word of warning. I spent a day trailing around uni. trying to find the right person to sign the memorandum thingy (Jason sent me a draft copy so I could show it folks to find someone to agree to sign it). Eventually, the International Office said they would do it and to bring it back to them when I had the final draft. I received the final draft last week and so contact the Int. Office. But they then refused to sign it! ::) I was not best pleased (to say the least!) since that then required me taking a morning off work to re-trawl around uni to find someone else to sign it. ::)

Jason mentioned that it can be difficult for grads to get the form signed. How true that is. Mainly, I guess, this is beacuse the form is worded for students and seems so irrelevant to grads. Just to give you an advance warning. Hopefully you'll all be luckier than me. :)

Argh you believe how hard it is to get that form signed. I've just been told by my tutor that its been sent to something called Academic Services who will take 4-6 weeks to process it, then they'll tell me if they will sign it!
I agree Ona, most of the form makes no sense considering I'll have nothing to do with the Uni after I graduate this summer

Thanks for the warning. I imagine I'd be alright as people here seem fairly willing to sign things last year, but I'd be sure to give them fair warning if I do go for it!

Thanks for that warning Ona! I can only imagine the trouble I would have getting my Uni to sign that they dont what they're doing half the time and end up sending you from one department to another for the simplest things! ::)
Meant to ask ya Ona is your contract for 12 or 11 months?

  15. Ona

    Nina, it's 11 and a half months (I think :-\ ;D). .... Yip, after checking, my contract is June 18th to June 1st. :)

Yip Ste that is precisely why the international office decided they couldn't sign it after all. They said that they could vouch for their students but couldn't make a similar claim for their graduates. Which is fair enough considering I obviously have abolutely nothing to do with my uni since graduating. ::) I wonder if there is any way the wording could be ammended to make more sense for grads? It would save some folks some major headaches. :-\

Yeah I remember seeing in one of the earlier forms something about any amendments need to be agreed with all parties but that was probably just 'cos it wasnt the finished form. I'll try goin down that route if I cant find anyone at uni to sign the form ive got!
