So I was on my way to work on the DCL as a youth activities counsellor, I passed the interview stage, passed my crb, passed references stage. Then came the medical (4 months later) and they tell me as a type 1 diabetic I am unable to sail 'distant seas' . The reasoning behind it as I understand so far is ludicrous. Apparently I am unable to carry out my job properly in case hypoglycemia occurs (low blood sugar level) . I am 22 and healthy I have been away at uni for 3 years and worked in a school for a year and my diabetes had never been a problem. It's crazy. Has anyone else had to terminate the process as a result of failing the medical?
