Hello again all! Just letting you know that I'll be Stateside from tomorrow onwards for three weeks, so I'll only be visiting the forum scarcely (except after applying of course). And I'll be sure to upload loads of pics from Orlando and Disney on my facebook if you're interested! Take care for the time being guys!
Enjoy Stevey-boy! I'm following 5 weeks on Thursday!! CANNOT WAIT! Say hi to the main mouse for me..I know he's excited about my visit
So I got my reply back from yummyjobs! - 'Many thanks for your email. We are delighted to say that we would not have a required template, format or length for Cover Letters or CVs. Instead we welcome you to use any style and length that best showcases your skills and experience.' It sounds kinda different from info we've been told before doesn't it? Or am I imagining it? Anyway from this email it kinda suggests that they don't have any set rules for length and things when applying with regards to cv/cover letter. So I guess that's quite reassuring!
Thanks for getting back to me. Sucks not being able to apply for a whole year, means it will be over two years until I'm in Disney. Best of luck everyone
Even though ive got work experience i've never written a cv because in my line of work i've always been recommended or used a showreel instead so any tips would be much appreciated! I also thought I would share this message I recieved from Yummy Jobs regarding disabied applicants. I have a heart condition so I thought if anyone with a medical condition or disability who is anxious about applying would like to see what they said! Disney do provide full assistance for students with disabilities. If successful onto the program you would be required to complete a medical accommodation request form.
ah what????? So it can be longer than two pages??? Why was I told mine was too long at 2.5?!? The way they worded the message it made it sound like anything over 2 pages was not even considered! Ah well, i guess more concise is better anyway...easier to skim over! Thanks for updating us! ;D
Exactly! So confused! Anyway yeah exactly, I reckon the more concise it is, the more appealing it is to them
I completely agree. I finally got my C.V. to three pages! I just took out my Junior results which took up so much space. Now just to tidy up my cover letter... I'm sort of hoping with the new Yummy Jobs site they might have a space for what roles you would like to do. I sort of hinted (very briefly) in my cover letter that I would like to work in a merchandise role. Is anyone else doing that?
Yeah I did this a bit I basically elaborated on how I would like a role with the most guest interaction and briefly mentioned my top three roles (attractions, merch and food + beverage) So yeah I think it's fine to mention it a little
I haven't mentioned specific roles in my cover letter, as I want to seem as flexible as possible. After all, any role is better than not being there! ;D
Oh yeah definitely agree with this. Although I touched on what roles I'd like, I did make it clear I'd be happy to take on any role! So to anyone wondering, I would definitely advise to make yourself seem as flexible as possible!
Hi all. Im new to the forums so please be gentle! ;D Ive noticed that people keep mentioning the month of August for when applications will open for jobs in 2014. I thought the application process opened in September? as thats what Yummy Jobs told me anyway.
Hi! Which program are you interested in? Applications for the j1 summer program open 1st august whereas the Cultural Representative Program (the year long program) opens 1st (?) September. These are the dates that are on the yummy jobs facebook page anyway. Hope this helps
Hi!! Welcome - introduce yourself! The Summer ICP applications open on August 1st - it was announced on the Yummy Jobs Facebook page a few weeks ago
Sorry guys, I got my wires crossed and didn't realise I was replying in the ICP section Im applying for CRP and since I made that epic fail of a post, I've realised that its September for us and August for you guys applying for ICP. Good luck with your dreams of making it to WDW next year. All the best.
